Today we are pleased to include a new guest contribution on our website. This is Anthony Miles-Prouten's beautifully told and lavishly illustrated story of Rebecca Cotton, who lived on the Isle of Wight in the eighteenth century. Not only is this one of our longer stories but also one of our earlier ones. Despite Rebecca leaving no descendants and very few traces in the documentary record, the author has made full use of the geographical and social and local historical context to ensure that Rebecca has her place in history and is no longer forgotten.
You can read Rebecca's story here.
