It is our 300th Story!

We are very proud to announce that, thanks to our lovely volunteers, we have today uploaded our 300th story. We are excited to have achieved this in under two years and it is way beyond the team's expectations when we started out. We definitely couldn't have done this without all those who have taken part in our Forgotten Women Fridays, or who have contributed guest stories.

So we present the story of Eliza Florence Ashton, from the Essex Refuge for Fallen Women, with many thanks to our regular volunteer Jude. You can read Eliza's story here.

To keep Eliza company, we have also added Fanny Sophia Austen, a staff member at the same refuge and the niece of author Jane Austen. Bessie Noon is another woman from the Essex refuge whose story you can now read. In addition we have Ellen, or Helen, Botting from the Basingstoke refuge and Edith Meacham from Staffordshire with completed stories. We have also received some shorter stories that will be uploaded as a collection later. All these biographies can be found here. For background information about the refuges please go to our webpage.
